What is Double Opt-In?

A subscription process requiring users to confirm their email address before being added to a list.

Double opt-in (confirmed opt-in) adds a verification step after initial signup. Users receive a confirmation email and must click to verify their subscription.

Benefits: - Ensures valid email addresses - Reduces spam complaints - Improves deliverability - Creates engaged lists - Required by GDPR in some cases

Drawbacks: - Loses 20-30% of signups who don't confirm - Adds friction to subscription process

Despite lower initial numbers, double opt-in lists typically outperform single opt-in in engagement and deliverability.
