What is Email Personalization?

Customizing email content based on recipient data like name, behavior, or preferences.

Personalization ranges from simple (using first name) to sophisticated (dynamic content based on purchase history, browsing behavior, or predictive analytics).

Basic personalization tokens include {FirstName}, {Company}, {Location}. Advanced personalization includes product recommendations, dynamic images, send time optimization, and individualized offers.

Personalized emails deliver 6x higher transaction rates. However, poor personalization (wrong name, irrelevant recommendations) damages trust more than generic emails.

Examples

  • Basic: "Hi {FirstName}, check out our new arrivals"
  • Behavioral: "Still thinking about those running shoes?"
  • Predictive: Products recommended based on browse history
